All the schools I've heard of in the U.S. do that with school classes, too! I'm honestly surprised to hear there are places that *don't*. The day of class lists being released in the summer was always something to look forward to with excitement and trepidation, both for me as a kid and for my kids now. :) I agree that I think it helps foster more friendships in a class if you're not always with the same group of 10-20 kids every year.

That's interesting! So it seems like the UK is the outlier. When I was growing up, the other classes in my year group were pretty much completely alien to us as we had no reason to interact with them, even though we all went through seven years of primary school together!

That's immensely fascinating to me! This is where we need a forum for asking people from every country "how do they do this where you live?" because I'm too curious!

I mean she's not wrong... but I don't know how she figured it out because I'm quite careful not to talk about make up in terms of "improving" my appearance!
